Ohio has recently announced that virtual school students may be eligible for Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT). This program was created to provide for the distribution of food assistance benefits to families impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Students who are eligible for free or reduced-price meals through the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) or School Breakfast Program (SBP) may be eligible for EBT benefits. The program is administered by the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services and it is partnering with the Ohio Department of Education to ensure eligible children receive this important benefit.
In order to receive the benefit, families must complete the online application using the link below. Applications must be submitted by May 31, 2023 and may take up to 90 days for processing. For more information on the EBT benefit, additional details, and directions to apply, please take a look at this document. If you have any questions, please contact the state’s support line by emailing pebt-support@ohio-k12.help.
Please note that TRECA does not oversee the application process or the delivery of benefits. We encourage families to work with Ohio Jobs and Families Services with questions regarding eligibility and the application process.
