On September 8, TRECA Digital Academy Students visited the Marion Tallgrass Trail in Marion, OH.
The Marion Tallgrass Trail is a rail-trail on a former Erie-Lackawanna Railroad which was abandoned in 1976. Students began their visit by learning about the mammals of Ohio though feeling pelts of weasels, groundhogs, skunks, otters, beavers, and coyotes. Students also learned about animal defense mechanisms and tracking wildlife. To wrap up the visit, students hiked along the trail, learning about railroad history and invasive plants.
