On November 16, TRECA Digital Academy students visited the Airstream Factory in Jackson Center, OH.
Students took an in-depth walkthrough of the actual production facility for Airstream. The company has 90 years of rich history, and most of the trailers are still built by hand. Roughly 3,000 rivets are used to build each travel trailer. It takes about 3-5 days to complete a build using aircraft-grade aluminum. First, wiring is installed before moving on to flooring. The trailers go through quality control several times throughout the build process. After touring the production facility students visited the Heritage Center to learn more about the creator of Airstream and view a vintage trailer collection. No photos are allowed in the production facility, but we were able to take photos during the museum portion of the tour.
