On September 20, TRECA Digital Academy students visited Adena Mansion and Gardens.

Located in Ohio’s first capital of Chillicothe, Adena Mansion is the 2,000-acre estate of Thomas Worthington, who was the sixth governor of Ohio and one of the Ohio’s first two U.S. Senators. Students began their visit with a guided tour of the mansion completed in 1807. The mansion has been restored to look as close as possible to how it did when the Worthington family lived there, including many original Worthington family furnishings. Students learned about Thomas Worthington’s legacy and his participation in Ohio’s early history as they toured the home. Unfortunately, no photography is allowed inside the mansion. After the tour of the mansion, students were able to take a self-guided tour of the grounds where they explored the gardens, barn, spring house, and more. After touring the grounds, students returned to the education center to explore the museum through interactive exhibits and real historical artifacts.
