On September 14, TRECA Digital Academy students visited the Ohio School of Falconry in Columbus, OH.
Students learned about conservation, preservation, and education through this ancient sport. Students learned about falconry, what makes raptors different from birds of prey, and the important role of raptors in the ecosystem. Families also met a variety of raptors including owls, hawks, falcons, buzzards. At the end of the program, students and families had the opportunity to participate in a bird flight where a Harris’s Hawk landed on their outstretched arm! We had great weather for this field trip, and students and families had a lot of fun!
