On November 8, TRECA Digital Academy students visited The American Sign Museum in Cincinnati, OH.
The American Sign Museum is dedicated to the art and history of commercial signs and sign making, with over 100 years of American sign history displayed. Through a guided tour of the museum, students learned about branding, materials, and changes in sign technology. There are three major periods of illuminated signs: lightbulb and metal, neon, and plastic. Families learned how signs were made using different materials and historical elements that went into sign design. After the tour, students and families participated in a “design a sign” activity to create their own personal signs to take home!
