On December 2, TRECA Digital Academy students visited the Cincinnati Museum Center.
On this self-guided visit, students explored three amazing museums, the five-story OMNIMAX Theater, special exhibitions, and a library. The museum is housed within Union Terminal, a National Historical Landmark.
Students took a step back in time to experience the history of the city from the first settlers through World War 2, learning how transportation supported expansion, how innovation changed transportation, and how transportation altered the landscape of Cincinnati. In the Museum of Natural History and Science, students experienced a world of science, history, and nature through interactive exhibits and amazing artifacts. Other exhibits open to exploring included the Ice Age Gallery, Neil Armstrong Space & Exploration Gallery, The Cave, Dinosaur Hall, and the Get into Nature Gallery!
Students also watched the program ‘Dinosaurs of Antarctica’ in the OMNIMAX Theater. Through this film, students were able to journey to the polar landscapes of Antarctica hundreds of millions of years ago to experience the primitive forests and thick swamps filled with bizarre dinosaurs and colossal amphibians. The film also took students on a quest with Antarctic scientists to understand the icy continent’s profound transformation.
