On April 3, TRECA Digital Academy students visited the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library & Museums. Located at Spiegel Grove, President Hayes’ 25-acre wooded estate, the library and museum illuminates the era President Hayes and his family lived in, and interprets the American Presidency. In groups, students explored the museum exhibiting nearly 2,000 artifacts. Students learned about who President Hayes was as a person too. He enjoyed walking and would usually walk about 6 miles a day around the grounds. He was also the first President to travel to the west coast during his term in office, and also the first to have a telephone and typewriter in the White House. This was a great tour learning about the legacy of President Rutherford B. Hayes.
