On November 18, TRECA students visited the Wilson Football Factory in Ada, Ohio.
Wilson footballs, the official game ball of the NFL since 1941, have been handcrafted in Ohio since 1955 and is the only dedicated football factory in the world. On a guided tour, students viewed every step that goes into making a leather football, producing about 2500 footballs each day. All of the footballs are made by hand with complete customization. The footballs are sewn inside-out, then turned right side out by hand. Students also learned about the graphics printing process, saw the NBA room, and learned how NBA basketballs are broken in with a custom dribbling machine.
