On March 11, TRECA students visited the Central Ohio Fire Museum in Columbus, OH.
The Central Ohio Fire Museum & Learning Center pays tribute to our firefighters’ past, present, and future. Through a collection of hand-drawn, horse-drawn, and motorized fire apparatus, students retraced the steps of firefighters in a 1908 engine house to learn about their day-to-day lives. Students learned what it was like to be a firefighter during the early hand-pulled cart and horse-drawn steam engine era, and how the fire service has evolved to the present service that serves their communities today. Students also created a home escape plan in case of a fire, and practiced how to safely get out of a house fire.
