On April 28, TRECA students took a trip to MVP Dairy in Celina, OH.
With a focus on sustainability and animal welfare, MVP Dairy is one of the most state-of-the-art dairy farms in the country. Roughly 4,000 Holstein cows are milked in the 80-stall carousel, using automatic milkers and ear tag scanners. They are housed in six tunnel-ventilated freestall barns which are furnished with sand bedding, water misters, fans, and back scratcher brushes. Families boarded a shuttle to tour the barns, and learned about regenerative farming practices, the importance of biodiversity, and how MVP manages their herd. Students also received a yogurt to try, along with a coloring book and cow eraser.
